So I'm wondering why it's painful for Wraeththu, even to the point of having to get stiched up. Maybe not for the higher castes? Or have I missed something. I've been totally entranced by the Wraeththu books ever since they first emerged on the scene.

My take is that its most diffucult for 1st generation har - i.e. those who started out as bois. I think they have an inate "male" oh-my-fucking-god" reaction to something so feminine happening to them that adds to the stress - and we all know how stress effects the body. The 2nd & 3rd generation har don't have so much difficulty because for them its natural & their not fighting it subconsciously - there is no masculine or feminine for them, there is only har.

Sat, November 18, 2006 - 8:04 PMon a practical note...unless the inception from human to Wraeththu also widened the passage through the pelvic bones, a pearl might just be a tight fit! Born hars would have a better physiology for the process perhaps, yes? I really hope someday that Wraeththu come to be : )
